Learn Developer Tools

54 hours 38 minutes

Credits: Optional Learning

Description

Learn Developer Tools is a comprehensive, hands-on course designed for engineering students who want to build practical, industry-ready skills in modern software development and DevOps tooling. Across five structured tracks, students will gain proficiency in containerization with Docker, container orchestration with Kubernetes, continuous integration and delivery with Jenkins, build automation, and automated testing with Selenium.
The course combines instructor-led content, guided labs, and skill benchmarks to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world engineering practice. Students will work with the same tools used by professional software engineers and DevOps teams globally – learning not just how to use them, but how they fit together in a modern software delivery pipeline.

Overall Learning Outcomes

  • Containerize applications using Docker – build, manage, and deploy Docker images and containers, configure persistent storage using volumes and bind mounts, and orchestrate multi-container environments using Docker Compose.
  • Deploy and administer Kubernetes clusters – install and configure clusters using kubeadm, manage workloads, storage, networking, and security following Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) standards.
  • Develop and deploy applications on Kubernetes – apply CKAD-level skills including configuration management, observability, autoscaling, GitOps, stateful workloads, and policy-driven governance.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins – set up Jenkins environments, create automated build and deployment pipelines, and integrate Jenkins with Docker, Git, and cloud platforms.
  • Automate application builds using build tools – understand and apply build automation concepts and tools used in modern software engineering workflows.
  • Write and execute automated UI tests using Selenium — use Selenium IDE and WebDriver with Java to write, run, and manage functional test scripts across browsers and environments.
  • Implement advanced testing frameworks – integrate Selenium with Cucumber for BDD, run distributed tests using Selenium Grid, generate reports with Allure, and implement logging with Log4j.
  • Apply CI/CD practices to automated testing – connect Selenium test suites to Jenkins pipelines, enabling continuous testing as part of a full software delivery workflow.
